​About Book Fest

Brevard Authors Society is an online association of Space Coast writers whose primary goal is to create the platform of opportunities for self-published authors. This year, the second Book Festival in the Cocoa Village, scheduled on November 2, 2019, introduces a great variety of literary genres. Many authors will take part and we invite hundreds of people. Best-selling authors and local publishers are attending this event.

Jeff 
Thompson

​Jeff Thompson is a lifelong explorer of the fine arts, literature, and film.  For the past seven years he has served as the Brevard County Library Services Director.  His leadership of libraries is focused
 on
sustaining the public library’s roles as a center of personal development; the preserver of local history and culture; and the storehouse of knowledge. 
 
When not working on libraries, Thompson often works with filmmaking, having made personal films for more than
twenty-five years.  His first public film, The Florida Suite, is a blending of the music of Frederick Delius with scenes of life in a citrus grove.  Currently, Jeff
 is working on TUES. Night, a film about a community chorus as it prepares to perform Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. 
 
As an enthusiast of nature and history, Jeff along with wife Joyce Wilden enjoys hiking and exploring Florida’s out-of-the-way places.  The active couple are also German language students who enjoy travel and are passionate explorers of the arts.

Veronica Helen Hart
Veronica Helen Hart is the CEO of Paranormalice Press, LLC, and an award-winning author and editor whose books have garnered much praise.
Writing about adventurous, historical, sometimes humorous, and always strong women.
Author and publisher at Uppity Woman Press ​Veronica Helen Hart created Uppity Woman Press to present her books which span a wide range of storytelling, dealing with danger, deceit, love, and survival in various genres. Her settings range from the Civil War to the future. She also works with other authors to prepare their material for publication under the Uppity Woman Press imprint, including her husband, Dr. Robert Hart’s work.
She currently serves as a Regional Director for the Florida Writers Association, President of the Ormond Writers League, member of Carrollton (GA) Creative Writers, Sisters in Crime, and facilitator for Daytona Fiction Writers and Daytona Area Writers.

​DL Havlin

​DL Havlin is an eclectic author whose varied experiences and background provide him with a memory chest full of material for writing his novels. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and attended pre-law at Rollins. His life has been as varied as his novels. Havlin's occupations have included tasks from analyst to world-wide customer service director and from licensed boat captain to football coach. He’s in demand as a speaker and seminar presenter for relationship and writing skills.

During his business career, one of his special skills was teaching and implementing programs regarding human relations. He uses this knowledge to create characters that drastically enhance plots by increasing natural tensions between individuals while keeping them extremely believable people
. His course is “one-of-a-kind.”

​Michael J. Carlson 

Michael J. Carlson is a fiction author and activist. His futuristic suspense stories have received honorable mentions in 2016, 2014, 2013, and 2012 Writers of the Future Science Fiction Contest and been finalists in the 2010 RPLA short story and novel categories. He's authored articles in The Florida Writer and short stories for the Prometheus Saga, In Shadows Written, and Dragon Writers. He currently 
has five novels, Engines of Destruction, Disinhibition, The Missing Trick List, Indigo Man, and Changed as well as
 two non-fiction titles Hurting Your Characters - a writer's guide to describing injuries and pain from the character's point of view, and The Unofficial Scrivener Workbook.

Rachel Hauck
Rachel Hauck is an award winning, New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author.
Her book The Wedding Dress was named Inspirational Novel of the Year by Romantic Times Book Reviews. She is a double RITA finalist, and a Christy and Carol Award Winner.
Her book, Once Upon A Prince, first in the Royal Wedding Series, was filmed for an Original Hallmark movie and aired in April 2018. 
Rachel has been awarded the prestigious Career Achievement Award for her body of original work by Romantic Times Book Reviews.
A member of the Executive Board for American Christian Fiction Writers, she teaches workshops and leads worship at the annual conference.
In other news, she’s the comical sidekick to Susan May Warren at the amazing My Book Therapy.
She lives in sunny central Florida with her husband and ornery cat.


Mary Custureri
Dr. Mary Custureri, Ed.D., founder and owner of Taylor and Seale Publishing, is a former professor, and now publisher who has focused on teaching and writing creative literature as well as technical and academic writing. With over 150 authors from throughout the United States as well as Canada and Australia, many of whom have been recipients of numerous grants and awards, she enjoys the fact that they bond with each other and help each other through their love for literature and their endeavors to market their work. What they have earned through this approach is often the focus of her speaking engagements. Custureri has been published by three different companies. Her academic and self-help works include Instructional Strategies: Helping all Students Succeed; Help Yourself Learn in Ten Easy Steps; The Happy Anderson Series of four children’s books (with more to follow), and Read a Book in an Hour: A Wholistic Reading Approach. She has also published, under her maiden name, a historial novel, Defy the Winds—soon to be expanded into a trilogy. Her next novel, Serena, is scheduled for publication in 2019.

Anna Flowers 
Anna Flowers is an internationally acclaimed author of six true crime books.  Her first book Blind Fury, about serial killer Gerald Stano, who killed 41 women in Central Florida, was published by Kensington, NY in 1993 .  It received seven mass media printings and was a True Crime Book Club selection in hard back. In 1995 Kensington published her second book, Bound to Die, the story of Tampa Bay serial killer Bobby Joe which also received multiple printings and was a Mystery Guild Book Club selection. Anna has participated in five national television documentaries speaking about Bobby Joe, who is still alive on Florida’s Death Row.  Currently in reruns are the pilot film for A&E’s one-hour “Killer Profile” on the BIO Ch.; the “Surviving Evil” show and the “Twisted” show, segment Born to Kill – each on Investigative Discovery television channel.  A new documentary was filmed last June by a British production company for the 13th episode of a series called “World’s Most Evil Killers,” to be aired late this year on Reelz, Spectrum Channel 13.  For details check website: annaflowersbooks.com.  An updated edition of “Bound to Die”, with a new 5,000 word Afterword that includes an interview with the killer’s wife, was recently published by the Florida Historical Society and books are available there and on Amazon.
